Somatostatin,is a peptide hormone that regulates the endocrine system and affects neurotransmission and cell proliferation via interaction with G protein-coupled somatostatin receptors and inhibition of the release of numerous secondary hormones. Somatostatin inhibits insulin and glucagon secretion.It is suitable for esophageal venous hemorrhage caused by cirrhosis and portal hypertension; upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage caused by peptic ulcer, stress ulcer and erosive gastritis; prevention and treatment of acute pancreatitis and its complications; adjuvant treatment of pancreatic, biliary and intestinal fistula; others: acromegaly, gastrin tumor, insulinoma and vasoactive intestine peptide tumors.
