Corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) is one of the hormone releasing factors (RF). Through the hypothalamus-pituitary neurosecretory system secreted into the pituitary portal vein system, it directly acts on the adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) secreting cells of the pituitary, promoting the secretion of ACTH (corticotropin).
